The history of FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona or Futbol Club Barcelona is a sports club based in Barcelona, Spain. Although primarily known for his football club, FC Barcelona also consists of four professional sports teams that compete in basketball, handball, football and hockey. FC Barcelona familiarly known by fans as the club has been around for over a hundred years and has always been popular at all.
The FC Barcelona was founded in 1899 by Joan Gamper, a Swiss businessman who had moved to Spain after falling in love with the country. Gamper sought to create a football club and put an ad in a newspaper received several responses quickly and form a team that would emerge as the top teams in their home region of Catalonia and Spain's largest country. In 1902 the club won Copa Macaya.
In 1908, Gamper became club president in order to save the club from bankruptcy. FC Barcelona has been living in situations difficult because several of their best players to retirement and the fact that he had not won anything since 1905. Gamper was able to get the club of their own stadium officially moving on the streets of Industry March 14, 1909. Gamper was also able to recruit top players and managers and get the club back in business for win with him at the helm. The new club moved in 1922 to a still greater, Las Cortes, who came to have an enormous capacity to 60,000.
A mid 1920 and 30 were a difficult period for the club. During this period, a crowd during a match Barca jeered the Royal March as a spontaneous opposition Spain's dictatorship. Consequently, the stadium was closed for three months and Gamper was forced to concede the presidency of the club. The club's founder committed suicide July 30, 1930 following a bout of depression caused by personal and financial problems.
After the Spanish civil war, the dictator Francisco Franco banned football clubs using non-Spanish names. Consequently, FC Barcelona has moved to Barcelona Football Club. During this period, the club has been oppressed by the Franco regime, which promoted its rivals Real Madrid. Despite the political climate and oppression, FC Barcelona was able to continue and win trophies and numerous championships in 1940 and 50.
Although he became the first club to beat Real Madrid in a European Cup playoffs in 1961, 60 were not great decade for FC Barcelona. Because the club had no money to buy better players after building a new stadium, the league has been dominated by Royal Madrid and Atletico Madrid. The decade of 1970, however, saw the arrival of the soon-to-be-legendary Johan Cruyff, who led the team championship at 74.
Despite winning numerous championships, fourteen years there has been conflict in team management experience. Finally, in 1988, Johan Cruyff returned as chief equipment and assembled the "Dream Team", a group of elite players. Cruyff led the team to many victories and remains their most successful manager to date. Cruyff after starting in 1994, managers and players come and go, but the team still has a limited success.
Finally, in 2003, a new president FC Barcelona took young. Joan Laporta appeared in coach Frank Rijkaard and many international stars who led the team to many victories in recent years years. In 2008, after many failures Laporta decided to replace Rijkaard at Barca B coach Josep Guardiola.
